Ukrainian forces faced a total of 122 combat engagements on February 17, 2025 as Russian invaders escalated their attacks across several sectors. The heaviest concentration of attacks was in the Pokrovsk sector, where 44 engagements occurred throughout the day. The Russian forces carried out 53 airstrikes, launched over 1,000 kamikaze drones, and fired approximately 4,500 rounds at Ukrainian positions and civilian settlements.
The Russian missile attack saw two missiles fired, marking another attempt to disrupt Ukraine’s defences. The invaders also unleashed a barrage of aerial assaults, with 67 combat aircraft involved in the strikes. Despite these aggressive actions, Ukrainian forces successfully repelled numerous Russian advances across various fronts.
In the Kharkiv sector, Russian forces attempted to storm positions near Vovchansk and Topol. Ukrainian troops successfully repelled all three of these attacks. Similarly, in the Kupyansk sector, Ukrainian defenders thwarted nine Russian offensives near Petropavlivka, Hlushkivka, Zahryzove, and Novoosynove.
In the Liman sector, the enemy made six assault attempts on Ukrainian positions near Hrekivka, Zarichne, and Yampolivka, all of which were repelled. In the Siversky sector, Russian forces attempted an attack near Bilohorivka but were unsuccessful.
The Kramatorsk sector also witnessed Russian attacks in the areas of Chasovyi Yar and Vasyukivka. Ukrainian defenders managed to prevent any significant movement, and two Russian attempts to displace Ukrainian forces failed. Active firefights continued throughout the day in the region.
The ongoing battles in the Pokrovsk sector were especially intense, with 36 of 44 Russian attacks successfully repelled by Ukrainian defenders. At least 325 Russian soldiers were neutralised in this sector alone, with 163 reported as irretrievably wounded. Ukrainian forces also destroyed a tank, seven UAVs, a heavy flamethrower system, and several vehicles, further crippling Russian military efforts.
In the Novopavlivka sector, Ukrainian forces fended off 21 Russian attacks in areas such as Novosilka, Rivne, Novyi Komar, Kostiantynopil, and Burlatske. Meanwhile, in the Orikhivsk sector, two Russian assaults near Shcherbaky and Nesterianka were repelled. In the Kursk region, Ukrainian forces pushed back eight Russian assaults, with two skirmishes still ongoing.
Despite the relentless attacks from Russia, Ukrainian troops continue to hold their ground, repelling the invaders and inflicting significant losses.
