Buffer Zone Formed Inside Russia as Ukraine Fortifies Position in Kursk (Video)

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have established a security buffer in the Kursk region, maintaining control over parts of the area despite intense Russian attacks. Military analysts confirm that Ukrainian troops are holding positions south and southwest of the city of Sudzha, particularly in the Goncharovka area, to prevent Russian forces from advancing rapidly towards the border. The buffer zone serves as a defensive measure to slow down enemy movements and protect Ukrainian territory.

Military expert Alexander Kovalenko from the Information Resistance group highlights that while severe destruction in Sudzha creates challenges for Ukrainian forces, the natural terrain supports the formation of defensive lines. The current situation remains under control, with Ukrainian troops preventing Russian units from making quick territorial gains.

Pavlo Lakiychuk, a security analyst from the Strategy XXI Center for Global Studies, states that there is no immediate risk of Ukrainian forces being surrounded. However, Russia continues to target Ukrainian supply lines in an attempt to disrupt logistics. The recent Ukrainian retreat to positions west of Sudzha was due to several factors, including a large scale Russian offensive and the temporary suspension of American military aid, which affected intelligence gathering.

Despite these challenges, the situation has now stabilised. Kovalenko notes that while Ukraine does not plan a full scale counteroffensive in this region, tactical adjustments may be made. The key objective remains to expand the buffer zone along the border while preventing a complete withdrawal from the Kursk region. While the depth of Ukrainian advances into Russian territory may be adjusted, military analysts rule out any immediate retreat from the area.
