Trump Appoints Kellogg as Special Envoy to Ukraine

United States President Donald Trump has announced the appointment of General Keith Kellogg as the new special envoy for Ukraine. Kellogg, a retired general and experienced military advisor, previously served as the United States special representative for both Ukraine and Russia. The appointment was confirmed by Trump in a post on Truth Social, where he praised Kellogg’s expertise and longstanding relationships with Ukrainian officials.

Trump stated that Kellogg is a “highly respected military expert” who will work directly with President Volodymyr Zelensky and other Ukrainian leaders. The President noted that Kellogg has already built a strong working relationship with them, which is expected to aid diplomatic and military cooperation.

The appointment comes after reports that Kellogg had been removed from previous ceasefire negotiations involving Ukraine and Russia. Russian officials had allegedly requested his exclusion, viewing him as too supportive of Ukraine. Despite this, the United States has now reaffirmed Kellogg’s role in handling Ukraine policy.

Earlier in February, Trump signed a decree officially naming Kellogg as a special representative for Ukraine and Russia. However, the new appointment as special envoy for Ukraine suggests a more direct role in overseeing United States policy towards the country.
