Ukrainian forces have successfully regained territory near Synkivka in the Kharkiv region and Burlatske in the Donetsk region, forcing Russian troops to retreat. The DeepState project, which monitors battlefield developments, reported that Ukrainian defenders liberated 7.87 square kilometres of previously occupied land in the Kupiansk sector.
Updated battlefield maps from 10 March show Ukrainian advances near Synkivka in the Kupiansk district, marking another step in Ukraine’s ongoing counteroffensive. In Donetsk, Ukrainian troops also reclaimed positions near Burlatske, further challenging Russian control in the region.
Ukrainian military observer Kostyantyn Mashovets confirmed that Ukrainian forces are maintaining defensive positions in key locations, including western Zapadne, north of Kupiansk, and northwestern Dvorichna. Despite Russia’s continued efforts to take these settlements, Ukrainian forces successfully counterattacked in multiple areas, including west of Synkivka, the eastern bank of the Oskil River, and the north of Kupiansk near eastern Zapadne. These operations forced Russian troops back east of the Kupiansk Dvorichna P79 road between Zapadne and Doroshivka.
Russian forces continue to launch attacks north of Kupiansk near Doroshivka, northeast of Kupiansk near Topoli and Krasne Pershe along the Oskil River, and in several other locations in an attempt to establish a bridgehead on the river’s western bank. Russian units are increasing their operational tempo in the Kupiansk direction, using mechanised equipment and deploying large numbers of troops. Ukrainian military officials operating in the Kupiansk and Lyman directions have reported heightened Russian activity in the region.
Major Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for Ukraine’s Khortytsia Group of Forces, stated that Russian forces recently took advantage of frozen terrain to transfer both equipment and infantry across the ice, intensifying their offensive. However, Ukrainian troops remain determined to repel these advances, continuing their efforts to reclaim more occupied territory.
