Drone Strikes Russian Military Training Ground – Attack Caught on Video

A drone strike targeted a Russian military training ground in the Nizhny Novgorod region on March 14, hitting the 333rd Combat Training Center in Mulino. This facility, originally developed with German military technology before sanctions were imposed in 2014, serves as a key site for training Russian forces. The extent of damage and possible casualties remain unclear as Russian authorities have not officially acknowledged the attack.

Eyewitness footage published by independent Russian media outlet ASTRA shows the drone striking the military site in the afternoon. Shortly after the attack, aviation authorities in Russia announced the temporary suspension of flights at Strigino Airport in Nizhny Novgorod, but did not link the disruption to the strike. The regional government has yet to confirm the incident.

Attack Details Information
Location Mulino, Nizhny Novgorod region
Target 333rd Combat Training Center
Time of Attack Afternoon of March 14
Casualties Reported Unknown
Official Confirmation by Russia No

The 333rd Combat Training Center was built with the assistance of German defence firm Rheinmetall Defence Electronics before Western sanctions in 2014 halted such collaborations. The facility integrates traditional training methods with advanced computer simulations, including 3D battlefield environments and urban warfare mock-ups. It spans an area of 34 by 27 kilometres and includes tank training grounds, water crossings, and other tactical zones. It has the capacity to train up to 700 soldiers simultaneously and an annual intake of 30,000 personnel.

This drone attack follows a series of recent strikes on Russian military infrastructure. On March 11, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin claimed that air defence systems had intercepted 11 drones in the Ramensky district, which were allegedly headed toward the Russian capital.

Reports from ASTRA suggest that the Mulino military base has previously been linked to human rights abuses, including allegations that wounded Russian conscripts were tortured there. Russian authorities have made no comment regarding these claims.
