(Kazan) – A drone attack on residential buildings in Kazan, the capital of Russia’s Tatarstan region, has led to fires and evacuations in multiple districts, with local authorities swiftly responding to the incident.
The attack occurred early on Saturday morning, with unmanned aerial vehicles targeting buildings in the Sovetsky, Kirovsky, and Privolzhsky districts of Kazan. Following the strike, residential buildings caught fire, prompting immediate action from local emergency services. A situation room was established to manage the response, and Tatarstan’s leader, Rustam Minnikhanov, arrived at the site to oversee the efforts.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, a drone was reportedly destroyed over the Tatarstan region at 7:50 a.m. Moscow time (4:50 a.m. GMT), but the attack’s aftermath caused significant damage. Municipal services have been placed on high alert as emergency responders continue to handle the situation.
In the wake of the attack, the Kazan Mayor’s Office directed the provision of temporary housing, food, and clothing to those evacuated from the affected buildings.
