From Russia and Iran to Ukraine? 85,000 Weapons in Potential Israel Transfer (Video)

Israel is set to transfer 85,000 units of Russian and Iranian weapons, including missiles, to Ukraine. Despite maintaining an official stance of neutrality regarding military aid, Israel has blocked direct weapons transfers to Kyiv and prevented third-party re-exports. However, reports indicate that this position may be shifting.

According to Defence Express, American aircraft have been tracked flying between Israel’s Hatzerim airbase and Poland’s Rzeszow, a key logistical hub for arms deliveries to Ukraine. Additionally, since last autumn, the Israeli government has been evaluating an initiative to transfer weapons seized from Hamas and Hezbollah to Ukraine.

The decision is seen as both practical and strategic. Rather than spending resources on weapon disposal, Israel appears to be providing arms to a nation in need while retaliating against those who supplied these arms to terrorists—the Russian Federation. Moscow has maintained official ties with Hezbollah leaders and considers Iran, which seeks Israel’s destruction, a strategic ally.

Military analysts highlight that Hamas and Hezbollah’s arsenals primarily consist of Russian and Iranian weapons. Footage released by the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) confirms the discovery of large weapons caches. During operations in southern Lebanon, IDF forces seized over 85,000 units of weapons, missiles, and equipment belonging to Hezbollah. These stockpiles included multiple launch rocket systems, anti-aircraft weapons, large-calibre machine guns, anti-tank systems, grenade launchers, mortars, and thousands of small arms and ammunition. Some of the seized equipment remains unused and in factory packaging.

Israeli forces also captured Russian Kornet anti-tank guided missiles and Iranian Almas missiles, both of which could be among the weapons provided to Ukraine. Analysts believe that light weapons will likely be the first category of arms transferred, as opposed to heavier equipment such as tanks, which the IDF also captured in its recent Syria operations.

The Israeli Defence Ministry reports that 3,300 weapons were confiscated during the latest operations in Syria. While discussions are ongoing about potentially supplying Patriot missile systems with US backing, the immediate focus remains on the transfer of light arms to Ukraine.
