Germany has strengthened its military support for Ukraine by providing additional air defence systems, armoured vehicles, and large quantities of ammunition. The German government updated its list of aid on Monday, confirming the delivery of three Gepard air defence systems, missiles for IRIS T, and various types of ammunition. This marks another significant contribution from Berlin as Ukraine continues its resistance against Russian aggression.
Ukraine has received 24 MRAP armoured vehicles, ammunition for Leopard tanks, and BMP Marder vehicles. Additionally, Germany has supplied 10,000 rounds of ammunition for the Gepard system, 5,000 rounds of 155mm ammunition, and 2,000 rounds of 122mm ammunition. The aid package also includes 50 VECTOR reconnaissance drones, bringing the total number provided to 549, along with 30 Gereon RCS tracked drones and 30 drone detection systems.

Germany has also prioritised Ukraine’s demining efforts by supplying two WISENT 1 armoured vehicles for clearing minefields, 100 portable demining systems, and two mine trawls. Ukraine has also received 8,000 rounds of 120mm mortar ammunition, as well as laser rangefinders, infrared binoculars, vehicles, assault rifles, and first aid kits.
The latest package builds on Germany’s earlier commitments. During the Ramstein meeting on 13 February, Berlin pledged around 100 guided missiles for the IRIS T air defence system. This pledge was part of a broader international effort, with over 50 countries reaffirming their support for Ukraine.
Germany’s continued military assistance highlights the increasing Western commitment to Ukraine’s defence. The advanced air defence systems and artillery rounds are particularly crucial as Russia intensifies its attacks on Ukrainian cities and infrastructure. The provision of drones and mine clearing equipment also reflects the evolving nature of warfare, where reconnaissance and mobility play a decisive role in combat effectiveness.
Berlin’s decision to strengthen Ukraine’s air defences comes at a critical moment. Russia has ramped up missile and drone attacks, targeting Ukrainian energy facilities and frontline positions. With IRIS T systems and additional Gepard platforms, Ukraine will have improved capabilities to intercept incoming threats. Meanwhile, the delivery of Leopard and Marder ammunition ensures that Ukrainian armoured units can maintain pressure on Russian positions.
