(Los Angeles, USA) – Deputies in Los Angeles County fatally shot a man early Tuesday morning following a domestic violence report in the Florence-Firestone area of South Los Angeles.
A woman contacted authorities at approximately 1:30 a.m., reporting that her ex-boyfriend had arrived at her residence in the 1500 block of East 77th Place. She stated that he had threatened her and was armed with a gun, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD).
Responding deputies located the man in the 7600 block of Compton Avenue. When confronted, the suspect attempted to flee before pulling out a handgun and firing at the deputies. Officers returned fire, striking the man at least once. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased. No deputies were injured in the exchange. Officials confirmed that a firearm was recovered at the scene.
