Kremlin Accuses West of Proxy War After Drone Attack on Moscow (Video)

The Kremlin has claimed that Russia is facing a proxy war following a drone strike on Moscow. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement during a conference on modern media, describing the conflict as something larger than what Russia initially called a special military operation.

Peskov argued that the war had escalated beyond its original scope, turning into a struggle that would determine Russia’s future. He insisted that Western nations were using Ukraine to wage a quasi-war against Russia and that Moscow had adapted to this new reality. He also claimed that Russia had made significant progress in information warfare, producing a new generation of skilled journalists and media figures to manage what he called external challenges.

The drone attack on Moscow coincided with a visit from the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Feridun Sinirlioglu. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova suggested that the Ukrainian military deliberately targeted the Russian capital during the OSCE official’s stay. She accused Kyiv of repeatedly launching drone strikes during foreign diplomatic visits.

Zakharova blamed Ukraine’s Western allies for what she called the decline of the OSCE, arguing that the organisation no longer serves its original role of maintaining security and cooperation in Europe. According to her, the OSCE has been turned into a platform for empty discussions rather than effective diplomacy.

Moscow has not officially confirmed the extent of the drone strike’s impact, but the attack is part of a series of Ukrainian operations targeting Russian military and infrastructure facilities. Kyiv has not commented on the incident.
