Ukraine Drone Strike Cripples Russian Ammunition Depot in Occupied Donetsk (Video)

(Donetsk Oblast) — Ukrainian forces have successfully targeted and destroyed a substantial ammunition depot in the Russian-occupied Donetsk Oblast. This precision drone operation, executed by Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU), inflicted significant damage on Russian military infrastructure, hindering their operational capabilities in the region.

The operation focused on storage facilities near the village of Markyne, a location utilized by Russian forces for stockpiling ammunition and fuel. According to sources within the SBU who spoke with Suspilne, the targeted depot held a vast quantity of military supplies. This included shells designed for infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) and tanks, crucial for armored warfare, as well as anti-tank guided missiles, posing a significant threat to Ukrainian armored units. Additionally, the depot stored mines, grenades, and millions of rounds of small-arms ammunition, essential for infantry operations.

The SBU sources confirmed that the drone strikes triggered extensive explosions at the site, continuing throughout the night. The intensity of the explosions suggests that the ammunition stockpile suffered catastrophic damage, rendering it unusable for Russian forces.

The impact of this operation extends beyond the immediate loss of munitions. By targeting and destroying this key logistical hub, Ukrainian forces have effectively disrupted the supply lines that sustain Russian military operations in the region. This forces Russia to divert resources, potentially delaying or impeding planned offensives or defensive actions.

In addition to the ammunition depot, the drone strikes also successfully targeted and destroyed a nearby fuel and lubricant storage facility. The destruction of this supplementary depot compounds the logistical difficulties for Russian forces, limiting their ability to maintain and operate their vehicles and equipment effectively. The combined loss of ammunition and fuel significantly weakens Russian operational effectiveness in the area.

This successful operation is not an isolated incident. Ukraine has demonstrated a consistent strategy of targeting Russian military assets located within occupied territories. A similar operation occurred on November 19, when Ukrainian forces struck a Russian arsenal in Karachev, Bryansk Oblast, within Russia itself. That attack similarly caused multiple explosions and was aimed at disrupting Russian logistics operations.
