The city of Moscow, known for its long history of mysterious and untimely deaths, witnessed yet another dramatic episode as Armen Sarkisyan, a notorious crime boss from the Yanukovych era, was sent to meet his fate in a rather explosive manner. A man with a past as turbulent as Russian democracy, Sarkisyan was known for organising the infamous “titushky”—those hired thugs in tracksuits who played the role of state-sponsored street enforcers. He later found himself playing for the other team, founding the ArBAT battalion, which fought against Ukraine. Now, he is no more.
According to Major General Viktor Yahun, formerly of the Security Service of Ukraine, Sarkisyan’s demise was nothing more than karma delivering its long-overdue verdict. Speaking to RBC-Ukraine, Yahun dismissed any need for Kyiv to claim responsibility, instead pointing out the inevitability of justice catching up with traitors.
“It is a very interesting case. Why? Because I strongly oppose anyone in Kyiv stepping up to say we did this. Karma is what it is—you know. Sooner or later, things catch up with you,” Yahun stated, with the confidence of a man who has seen many such betrayals and their equally predictable endings.
Sarkisyan’s path to destruction was hardly a surprise. From his questionable origins to his more recent role as a Kremlin-affiliated strongman, his past was littered with crimes against Ukraine. His elimination in Moscow only adds another name to the growing list of individuals who put their faith in the Russian regime, only to discover too late that Moscow rewards loyalty with an early grave.
“For all the traitors and collaborators out there, Moscow is a big city. And, well, a brick can fall from the 10th floor at any moment,” Yahun remarked, a sly nod to the many convenient accidents that have befallen others who outlived their usefulness to the Kremlin. “It is always more effective when our services remain silent. No person—no problem.”
Sarkisyan may have once been described as a businessman or a boxing federation head, but history will remember him as a traitor, a man who abandoned his country only to end up in the cold corridors of a Moscow intensive care unit, never to regain consciousness.
Sarkisyan’s Assassination in Moscow
The dramatic execution of Sarkisyan took place in one of Moscow’s elite residential complexes, where he was reportedly accompanied by his security detail. Yet, even a team of bodyguards could not save him from what awaited. Reports later confirmed that he succumbed to his injuries in intensive care, ending a life defined by deception and betrayal.
With Russia’s well-documented history of removing inconvenient figures, the question remains: was this an external operation, or did the Kremlin simply decide it was time to retire yet another loyalist in its signature fashion? Regardless of the answer, Sarkisyan’s demise serves as a warning to all traitors—Moscow may promise protection, but its hospitality often ends in a closed casket.
