A Ukrainian An-124 Ruslan transport aircraft has successfully delivered a Super Puma multi-purpose helicopter to Réunion Island. The aircraft, one of the largest cargo planes in the world, landed at Roland Garros Airport, where it also unloaded technical equipment for local EDF specialists tasked with repairing the power grid.
The An-124, operated by Antonov Airlines, plays a crucial role in global transport logistics. The aircraft, bearing the inscription “Be Brave Like Mykolaiv,” has been involved in numerous high-profile missions, carrying both civilian and military cargo. The Ukrainian company continues to generate revenue by providing international air transportation services, including the delivery of critical equipment to various countries.
In January 2025, the An-124 played a key role in a French military operation, transporting large amounts of military equipment from Chad to a new base of operations. The aircraft has also been involved in other major transport missions. In early December 2024, it delivered PZL Mielec aviation equipment from Poland to Clark Air Base in the Philippines.
Another notable mission saw the Ukrainian An-124 assist in the launch of the French CSO-3 observation satellite. The aircraft’s massive cargo compartment was used to transport essential satellite components. The CSO-3 satellite successfully entered orbit on 6 March 2025 after being launched from the Kourou Spaceport in French Guiana aboard an Ariane 6 rocket.
Antonov Airlines’ fleet of An-124 aircraft remains an essential part of global logistics, with Ukraine continuing to play a key role in international transport operations. These missions highlight Ukraine’s aerospace expertise and its ability to provide strategic airlift capabilities to partners worldwide.
