Ukrainian defence forces have reported significant battlefield success over the past twenty four hours, eliminating 1,530 Russian troops and destroying dozens of enemy military assets including tanks, artillery systems and armoured vehicles. The data was released by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine early on 18 April and confirms a concentrated series of combat clashes, particularly in the Pokrovsk direction.
According to the official figures, Ukrainian forces destroyed eight Russian tanks and forty combat armoured vehicles during the same period. In addition, eighty eight artillery systems were taken out, along with one multiple launch rocket system, one air defence unit, and over 300 transport and logistics vehicles and tankers.
The report states that a total of 114 combat engagements occurred on 17 April. These included missile and air strikes by Russian forces, widespread use of kamikaze drones, and continued heavy shelling across the front line.
Ukrainian troops also managed to neutralise 140 Russian unmanned aerial vehicles used for reconnaissance and targeting operations.
The total confirmed Russian combat losses since the start of the full invasion on 24 February 2022 now exceed 938,970 soldiers, according to the Ukrainian military.
