The Armed Forces of Ukraine have regained control over the settlement of Dniproenerhiya in the Donetsk region, marking a significant advance on the eastern front. This success, achieved under the command of Lieutenant General Serhiy Naiev, has improved Ukraine’s tactical position in two key directions and significantly reduced troop losses.
Lieutenant General Naiev, who has been leading a tactical group for the past two months, announced that during this time, Ukrainian forces have reduced personnel casualties by 20 percent and dealt devastating losses to the Russian occupiers. According to official figures, approximately 9,500 Russian troops have been eliminated along with a considerable quantity of military equipment.
Russian Losses (Last 2 Months) | Quantity |
---|---|
Enemy personnel | 9,500 troops |
Tanks destroyed | 51 units |
Armoured combat vehicles destroyed | 166 units |
Automotive equipment (jeeps, bikes, etc.) | 819 units |
Drone warfare has played a critical role in this success. With the support of international partners, Ukrainian brigades received 3,433 drones—independent of state or volunteer aid. These include advanced models like “General Chereshnya”, “Baton”, “Vyriy Pro”, and “Autel MAX 4T”, which have been especially effective in detecting and neutralising Russian convoys.
Around 70 percent of Russian losses in the sector were caused by drone strikes. In one major engagement near Vesele and Skudne, Russian forces attempted to break through using four assault columns that included five tanks, 14 armoured vehicles, and six additional carriers filled with paratroopers. However, thanks to timely aerial reconnaissance and effective firepower, Ukrainian forces destroyed over 100 Russian troops, four tanks, nine armoured vehicles, and three other armoured units before they could advance.
In a related development, Ukrainian forces also liberated the village of Pishchane early in 2025, located around 5 kilometres south of Pokrovsk. This was confirmed by Viktor Tregubov, spokesman for the Khortytsia Operational Strategic Group.
