Ukrainian Forces Repel Russian Armoured Convoy in Chasiv Yar (Video)

Russian forces launched an armoured assault on Chasiv Yar, attempting to break through Ukrainian defences using a heavily armed convoy. The attack was detected by the 24th Separate Mechanised Brigade, which closely monitored enemy movements before launching a coordinated counterattack. The Russian convoy consisted of more than a dozen armoured infantry vehicles advancing towards Ukrainian positions on the morning of March sixth.

Ukrainian reconnaissance drones tracked the convoy from the beginning, providing real time intelligence to artillery and attack drone units. As the Russian forces pushed forward, they were met with artillery fire and precise drone strikes, causing significant losses. The attack forced Russian infantry to abandon their vehicles and attempt to hide in nearby houses, but they were swiftly targeted by Ukrainian drone operators.

Russian Convoy Attack on Chasiv Yar Details
Date of Attack March sixth 2025
Russian Forces More than 14 armoured vehicles
Ukrainian Response Artillery strikes and drone attacks
Russian Losses At least 33 soldiers killed or wounded
Destroyed Equipment 14 armoured vehicles left on battlefield

Following the assault, the Russian convoy was left in disarray. Damaged and destroyed vehicles blocked the main crossing, creating a traffic jam that prevented further movement. Many Russian troops who attempted to retreat were unable to escape, while others were eliminated as they tried to find cover. Ukrainian forces confirmed that at least 14 Russian vehicles were either destroyed or abandoned.

This failed attack is part of Russia’s ongoing attempts to capture Chasiv Yar. Previously, Russian troops relied on small infantry groups for assaults, but worsening weather and poor battlefield visibility have forced a change in tactics. Now, Russia is deploying armoured units in greater numbers, hoping to break through Ukrainian defences by force. Despite these efforts, Ukrainian troops continue to hold their positions and inflict heavy losses on the invading forces.

In January, Ukrainian defenders in the same area repelled a similar attack, destroying four Russian BMD four airborne infantry vehicles.
