Ukrzaliznytsia Restores Key Online Services After Cyberattack

(Kyiv) – Ukrainian state railway operator Ukrzaliznytsia has successfully restored several critical online services that had been disrupted by a recent cyberattack. The announcement was made through the company’s official Telegram channel and confirmed by Ukrainian National News (UNN).

According to Ukrzaliznytsia, six essential online platforms are now fully operational again. These include websites for booking passenger tickets, checking train schedules, and accessing services designed to support railway employees and their families. The return of these services marks a significant recovery following a deliberate attempt to undermine Ukraine’s transport infrastructure.

The restored services include:

Service Function
Passenger Services Website Online ticket purchases and service management
Rail Schedules and Connections Website Timetables for long-distance and suburban rail journeys
Kyiv Ring Electric Train Website Information on Kyiv’s circular electric rail line
Suburban Train Schedule Website Regional train timetables and updates
Veteran Railway Workers Website Support services for retired and war-affected railway staff
“Iron Family” Programme Website Aid platform for railway workers impacted by the ongoing conflict

Additionally, the Ukrzaliznytsia mobile application has resumed displaying Intercity Plus train routes. This high-speed service is essential for daily commuters and long-distance travellers alike.

The carrier has also restored the e.Portal for UZ-Cargo, which now allows users to access their personal accounts again. This is a vital step for logistics and freight services, which form a backbone of the country’s economy during wartime.

Ticket Return System Online refund process In Progress

Ukrzaliznytsia has begun the process of returning digital tickets to passengers who lost them due to the attack. Many users had experienced difficulties accessing or retrieving travel documents after the cyber breach.

The attack, which disrupted services on a large scale, is widely suspected to be part of ongoing Russian cyber warfare operations aimed at destabilising Ukraine’s internal infrastructure. This form of hybrid aggression is becoming increasingly common, targeting digital and civilian systems alongside conventional military strikes.

Despite the disruption, Ukrzaliznytsia’s quick response and service restoration have demonstrated resilience and coordination in the face of adversity. The operator is continuing to work on the full recovery of all affected services to ensure passengers and workers have uninterrupted access to essential transport and support platforms.
