(Video) Russian Captives Reveal Harsh Realities of the War: Hunger, Thirst and Defeat

Two Russian soldiers have been captured by the “Sila Svobodi” battalion of the “Rubezh” brigade, operating within the Ukrainian armed forces. Their stories reveal the dire situation faced by many Russian troops on the frontline.

One of the captives, a middle-aged soldier, explained that he had spent 11 months hiding to avoid conscription. After his capture, he was forcibly sent to Ukraine, where he was eventually captured by Ukrainian forces. Despite his initial fear, he spoke about being treated well in captivity and receiving medical assistance.

The second captive described his journey from prison to the frontline, where he found himself ill-prepared for combat. He detailed a harrowing experience of being hungry and thirsty for days, unable to access food or water. When he was captured by Ukrainian forces, he too received medical help and food. He expressed his desire to return home as part of a prisoner exchange but stated that he would refuse to return to war, even if it meant going back to prison.

The treatment of prisoners, especially by the Russian military, has been widely criticised. The Russian soldiers mentioned the harsh conditions, lack of resources, and the absence of proper military preparation. The stories told by the captives serve as a stark contrast to the more positive treatment they received in Ukrainian captivity.

These testimonies reflect the harsh realities of the Russian military’s situation, with soldiers not properly equipped and forced to endure unbearable conditions. In a conversation with Ukrainian forces, one of the captives stressed the stark contrast between the two armies, describing the professionalism and preparedness of Ukrainian soldiers.

At the same time, the captives voiced a sense of disillusionment with the Russian army. They recounted being misled about their roles and mission, with some expressing regret over joining the war effort.
