(Video) Ukrainian Air Force Carries Out Precision Strike on Russian Positions in Zaporizhzhia

The Ukrainian Air Force carried out a precision strike on Russian positions in the Zaporizhzhia region. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine released video footage confirming the successful attack, which took place on February 17 near the village of Chumatske.

The drone footage shows Russian troops moving near their position in a forested area before the strikes hit their target. The attack destroyed fortifications, personnel, and a launch site for Russian drones. The targeted position belonged to the 2nd Motorised Rifle Battalion of the 64th Separate Guards Motor Rifle Brigade of the Russian army.

The Russian forces had used the location to conduct hostilities against Ukrainian troops. The General Staff confirmed that this operation is part of Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to weaken the enemy’s combat capabilities and eliminate threats. The type of weaponry used in the attack has not been officially disclosed, but military analysts suggest it could have involved American JDAM ER or GBU 39 B Small Diameter Bombs, as well as French AASM HAMMER systems.

This is not the first time Ukrainian aviation has successfully targeted Russian strongholds. Previously, aircraft of the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed a site used to launch drone attacks on the Sumy region. Ukrainian forces have also become the first in the world to use 1,000 pound Mark 83 bombs modified with JDAM ER guidance kits. The 39th Tactical Aviation Brigade released footage of a Ukrainian Su 27 deploying a pair of precision guided bombs on Russian positions in a wooded area.

JDAM ER kits have previously been available for 500 pound GBU 62 and 2,000 pound GBU 64 bombs. Ukraine’s ability to integrate advanced Western guided munitions has significantly enhanced its precision strike capabilities, forcing Russian forces into a more defensive posture.
