Ukraine has reaffirmed its commitment to a ceasefire but insists that Russia must not impose conditions before any agreement is reached. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron discussed the matter, with France continuing its support for Ukraine’s security.
Zelenskyy spoke with Macron following an online meeting of world leaders, where growing international support for a just peace was evident. A key issue raised was the proposal for a 30-day ceasefire. Ukraine remains open to the initiative but firmly opposes any demands from Russia.
Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire without conditions. However, he made it clear that Russia’s attempts to set terms before agreeing to the truce are unacceptable. Kyiv has conveyed this stance to President Macron, who has expressed continued support for Ukraine’s position.
Discussions also focused on security guarantees. France maintains a strong stance on supporting Ukraine, and efforts are underway to coordinate specific mechanisms to ensure long-term stability. Kyiv is working closely with its international partners to establish concrete steps toward lasting peace.
