Gov’t asked to remove tax on donated goods

The government has been asked to exempt import tax on equipment donated or purchased to provide medical services.

The appeal has been made by the Uganda Orthodox medical bureau as the Faith-based private but not-for-profit health organizations reach out to the government for support to enable them to continue their service to communities.

The Bureau’s Executive secretary Sande George says while these entities complement government efforts, they are challenged when trying to clear donations aimed at improving their services hence the need for the exemption.
